For UK students on a Law with French Law degree
French law tutoring, from someone who studied at the exact university where your year abroad happens.
Your degree includes a full year of French law taught in French, at a French law faculty, under French legal method. Most students arrive at that year with strong English legal training and almost no experience of how a French judgment is written, or how a French exam actually gets graded. I hold a Master II in criminal law from Université Panthéon-Assas, the very university most UK students spend their year abroad at, and I've taught the French core curriculum to students in France for five years, across more than 4,500 hours and 620 students.
The degree is French. The support around it usually isn't.
A Law with French Law degree, at UCL, Warwick, Newcastle or elsewhere, drops you into a French law faculty for a full year, French civil law, French constitutional law, French contract law, and the French exercises that go with them, the fiche d'arrêt, the commentaire d'arrêt, the cas pratique. None of these exist in an English law degree, and none of them get taught before you land in France.
Most students find out how different French legal method is only once they're sitting in front of a French professor who assumes everyone already knows how to structure a cas pratique. The French system rewards a very specific, very rigid way of answering a legal question, and getting it wrong costs marks even when the legal reasoning underneath is correct. On top of that, French lecturers rarely offer the kind of one-to-one office hours a UK student is used to, so a concept that doesn't click in the lecture theatre tends to stay unclear until the exam.
That's exactly the gap my tutoring fills. I go over the notion your French course didn't quite land, mark your practice answers before the same mistake repeats itself, and stay reachable on WhatsApp between sessions for a quick question before a deadline. I already work with students based in Dubai, Geneva, Brussels and Luxembourg, on top of students in France. The time zone changes, the method doesn't.

I teach law every day, seven days a week, more than 26 hours a week, and I'm fully bilingual in French and English, so the language barrier never gets in the way of the legal reasoning. Do you actually know the French law syllabus my degree covers?

What if I don't speak French well yet?
That's not a problem. I'm fully bilingual in French and English, so we work in whichever mix of the two languages gets a concept across fastest. Most of my UK students start hesitant in French and end up reading a full French judgment on their own within a term.
How does the time difference work?
I build my schedule around yours, not the other way round. The gap with the UK usually means an evening slot for me, that's the only thing that changes, never the quality of the session.
